My wife recently sent me an email with a link to a New York Times article titled Low-Tech Mosquito Deterrent. Its subject doesnít have much to do with real estate sales, but does have to do with enjoying your real estate. The Puget Sound area in general, and Kitsap and Jefferson County in particular, have a great deal of greenery and usually have ample amounts of moisture to keep it green. Those two features often combine to provide an environment for mosquitoes to thrive, which can make it difficult to spend a pleasant evening outdoors without being bitten.
The article presents a low-tech solution to the problem, a fan. According to the author, the fan both deters the insects and disperses the carbon dioxide and scents that they use to locate us as targets. And science backs him up. So maybe rather than sitting in smoke from citronella candles (which the article says donít really help much), you can be wafted by gentle breezes.
