Know of a pothole that needs to be fixed, or an intersection that needs a stop light? SeeClickFix.com, a web site created a couple of years ago, allows individuals and groups to make those needs known to the responsible governmental agencies. Posting a need on the site from a computer or smart phone alerts participating agencies of the need and displays the request for others to see on the site. When the agency responds, the response is posted as well. Many see this as a promising new approach for local governments to interact with the public on a wide range of issues, including infrastructure and law enforcement. The government agency gets the benefit of many more eyes and ears looking for needs, the public sees what the government is doing to address them.
In the West Sound area, Bainbridge Island currently is the only governmental entity actively using the site. Others might be persuaded to get on board with sufficient public interest.
